Officially The Scribe Master!
May 31st, 2009 by admin
Yay! Finally, after investing many thousands of gold worth of my World of Warcraft savings, I’ve been rewarded on my level 80 Disc/Holy Priest Inscriptionist with the one message that means the money hemorrhage has been stopped.
“You have learned everything from this book”
This means that I have learned all of the new Glyphs that were released with patch 3.1 and the “Glyph Mastery” books, and since there have been no recent discoverable glyphs via the Northrend or Minor Glyph Discovery methods, that’s it.
I can officially say, at least until things change, that I Know It All.
Inscription == Big Bucks + Big Bleeds
Inscription is one of those professions that can be incredibly lucrative, or incredibly expensive, depending on what phase you’re in, in terms of advancing levels or filling out your Glyph Selection.
I’ve gone through phases of putting every extra gold piece into the materials that allow me to create the Glyphs, and then phases shortly afterwards where I earned 5000-12000g from those very same Glyphs I’d created and stored.
I’ve gone through phases of not doing a thing with Inscription other than make a few Glyphs for friends or guildmates now and then, and then – like recently – have spent an intense amount of focus on that profession to the complete exclusion of others.
So in short, my answer is that yes Inscription can be very profitable.
How To Profit From Inscription
If you pay close attention to which of your Glyphs are the most profitable in the Auction House on your realm, and watch for cheap herbs to mill from the Auction House, you can make a steady profit from the profession of Inscription from week to week.
Also, if you are smart with market speculation as to when there will be a larger demand of Glyphs than other times, you can make a huge amount of profit in a small amount of time just by being ready. (the release of 3.1 is one example, and those with early Glyph Mastery books made a fortune on some of those Glyphs too)
Beware The Bleed
But, Inscription can also bleed you completely dry of all of your cash and still not give satisfactory returns if you’re not careful about your herb buying and choice of Glyphs to sell in comparison to your current market.
Take Advantage Of The Weekend Farmers
On the realm of Zul’jin, at least, there’s a marked difference in prices for Herbs purchased halfway through the week, and Herbs purchased on Sundays and Mondays.
Supply is way up in the latter half of the weekend after all of the casual players and weekday raiders have spent a bunch of their time questing and farming in order to earn gold for their next purchase, and that always drives the price per stack down.
Keep in mind that this also applies for most of the Glyphs you’d be making to sell, and consider trying to sell your glyphs mid-to-late week instead of during the “lull time” of Sunday and Monday.
Any Tips You’d Like To Share?
I’d love to hear from the readership if there’s more advice that you’d like to offer for others reading this post!
(Woot! I know all Major and Minor Glyphs for Hunters, Warriors, Shaman, Priests, Mages, Warlocks, Rogues, Death Knights, Paladins and Druids, oh my!)
