Using WoW-Heroes.Com To Tune Your Leading Edge 80 Raider
December 8th, 2008 by admin
As soon as I hit 80, I zoomed my way over to the Be Imba! website to see if it was updated for WoTLK and gearing at 80.
Well, it’s not updated yet, so I wandered over to WoW Heroes to find that they ARE updated and while their scale doesn’t include heroics in a way I’d prefer at this point (Be Imba was always better for the finer points of the earlier sections of the scales), the information is quite usable.
Especially when it comes to tuning my OWN character, and improving it the most I can feasbly improve it in preparation for raid time.
Selecting Enchants For Your Toon
WoW Heroes is a great place to turn for information about what type of Enchants you should be placing on your gear.
Whether you’re a Raider or just a player who likes to eek out as much as possible from your playing toons, enchants are a solid part of a well-enhanced gearing set.
As a quality site, WoW Heroes’ enchanting suggestions information provides pop-up information that lists the materials required for each enchant, making it easy for a player to decide on which one makes the most financial sense at the time.
I was able to use that site to create a full list of enchants I wanted for my Holy Priest, complete with materials, so I was able to bring together the full amount of materials and get the enchants done right away when I ran across an Enchanter of adequate means.
In-guild I was able to get this list knocked off between two different enchanters, in two days.
Using WoW-Heroes To Select Gems, Gear
WoW Heroes doesn’t suggest Gems and Gear for your toon in the same way as it suggests enchants, but it’s easy to use the site to gather that type of information: By looking up other players and examining their set-ups.
Look up someone you already know, and who you think does a good, or better job in your class than you do.
Alternatively, look up players in progressed raiding guilds who share your class and spec, and see what their gear looks like. Hover over their gear or gems to see exactly what they’re using, and check their overall stats at the bottom of each page.
You can even compare your toon with another toon and get an overall picture of what you’d have to improve in order to be geared and equipped like them!
Priest Enchanted, and Gemmed for Raiding
In preparation for Tuesday night’s first official raid night, I re-spec’d, re-gemmed, and got all of my various gear bits enchanted in a cost-effective way that still ranked well in on the WoW Heroes site.
When we had 2 teams of 10 players on raid night and were able to field two full groups, I was happy to see that other members of my group, when linking their gear for consideration for upgrades when epics dropped, also had enchanted and gemmed gear.
I feel like I fit right in.
First Official Raid Night Results
All three healers – one Shaman, one Paladin and one Priest, all rocked the healing charts rather equally, keeping people alive rather impressively at times, if I do say so myself! What a great team.
The other team did equally well, too, with lots of upgrades spread around. All in all the first official raid night was very successful.
But with all of the new information, I can’t tell you how many bosses we downed in our group. I got the Achievement for the Arachnid Quarter and the Construct Quarter, however, before we called it a night on a high note.
I got a couple of upgrades and just got one re-enchanted. I’m looking forward to seeing the new ranking on WoW Heroes
