World of Warcraft The Exodar
September 3rd, 2007 by admin
The Exodar is the Draenei capital Blizzard Entertainment’s fictional Warcraft Universe. It was introduced in E3 2006 as part of the World of Warcraft: The Burning Crusade expansion. The Exodar is located off the coast of the Veiled Sea, on the westernmost continent of Kalimdor. It serves as the second major city in Kalimdor for Alliance players (the first being Darnassus).
History
The Exodar was the name previously given to a Naaru satellite orbiting Tempest Keep in Netherstorm on Outland, both of which were also introduced in The Burning Crusade expansion. It was sabotaged by Blood Elves on Draenor when Prince Kael’Thas stormed the keep. The ship was eventually retaken by Velen and the Draenei, who intended to use it as an escape vessel, but overtime, with continual fighting for control of it, the ship became damaged. The damage was so great that, despite their eventual escape, the Draenei ship ended up crash-landing in the Azuremyst Isles in Azeroth. The Exodar, the name now given to the largest hub of the ship’s remains on which the city itself was built, forms the capital for the surviving Draenei. Other pieces of the wreckage can be found throughout the Azuremyst and Bloodmyst isles. [1]
[edit] Areas
Map of ExodarThe Exodar is divided into four main areas, a large central hall with three major wings. All the wings are connected with smaller hallways as seen on the map.[1]
Seat of the Naaru (central hall)
The Crystal Hall (northern wing)
The Vault of Lights (western wing)
Traders’ Tier (southern wing)
[edit] Entrances
The Draenei and other Alliance players can access the city by using either a spiral ramp that leads to the heart of the Exodar from the main entrance, or another ramp down from the harbor-side entrance that leads into the Vault of Lights.[1]
[edit] Before the Crusade
Previous to the release of the Burning Crusade expansion to World of Warcraft, the Exodar did not actually exist. It can be found on the world map, but spells such as Far Sight reveal the straight-line edge of the sea (i.e. the end of the world) before finding any such city or islands. It has been put on the map but not in the world.
Reputation is obtainable pre-expansion by a series of quests throughout Azeroth, and through Alterac Valley turn in quests. Also, there are a few Draenei that give quests in the Swamp of Sorrows.
